Rescue the US AUTO INDUSTRY?

Sounds like Bush & Obama talked about assisting the US auto industry with $5 Billion – trickle down or spread the wealth – might this plan be a benefit to all? Like a stimulus package, where vehicles are sold at say $5,000 below production cost – to compensate for poor gas mileage and the high cost of gas.  Wink

I’m sure this would stimulate sales – US auto makers might even be able to compete! Maybe the government could keep them afloat long enough to evolve our vehicles into energy efficient and environmentally friendly productions, while keeping the workforce employed?
